Technology Licensing
Invention Management
From an invention’s disclosure to its licensing, intellectual property is managed in
cooperation with the TLOs.
Based on the consignment agreement between the university and the TLOs,
an efficient and integrated process has been developed through clarifying the respective
roles of each party.
Technology Licensing
With technology transfer, we aim to share the fruits of University research with society.
The following two TLOs serve as mediators between the University and industry,
overseeing marketing and licensing activities.
- TODAI TLO, Ltd. (CASTI)
- The Foundation for the Promotion of Industrial Science (FPIS-TLO) (Japanese language only)
We believe that it is most important to promote the effective use of our inventions in society.
Therefore, we will consider licensing to overseas businesses as well as domestic businesses.
Our concerns include efforts toward commercialization, product development capability,
market potential, etc.
Depending on corporate structure, market size, and other aspects,
the licensee may select suitable licensing conditions from a variety of options,
such as an exclusive or non-exclusive right, running royalties or milestone payments, etc.
(It is also possible to pay the royalty through stocks or incentive stock options.)
